What makes a good signature for a child
- Easy to repeat. Simple joined letters, no complicated loops. A child must sign it the same way every time.
- Neat and readable. Teachers, exam boards and banks should be able to match it.
- Grows with them. Smart enough to keep using at 25, not a cartoonish scribble.
- Fits the box. Exam admit cards and forms have small signature boxes.

Before and after

When does a child need a signature?
- Board and entrance exam forms, admit cards and answer sheets
- School and college records, ID cards and certificates
- A first bank account or savings account for minors
- Passport applications once the child is old enough to sign (rules differ by country, so check your passport office's instructions)
Once a signature is on exam and bank records, changing it later means paperwork. That's why parents get it right early.
How children learn it in 7 days

- Print the A4 practice sheet.
- Days 1–3: trace the light grey signatures slowly, 10 minutes after dinner.
- Days 4–5: sign on the empty lines, looking at the example.
- Days 6–7: sign without looking, at normal speed. Most children sign it confidently within a week.
