What is a lucky signature?
A "lucky" or shubh signature is one that follows the guidelines Indian numerology and signature astrology traditionally recommend: a signature that rises from left to right, starts with a clear first letter, keeps your name recognisable and has no line cutting through it. Many people also start using a new signature on a day linked to their birth number.
The 3 numbers numerologists use
| Number | How it's calculated | Example: born 23 Aug 1994 |
|---|---|---|
| Moolank (root / psychic number) | Add the digits of your birth date until one digit is left | 2 + 3 = 5 |
| Bhagyank (destiny number) | Add every digit of your full date of birth | 2+3+0+8+1+9+9+4 = 36 → 3+6 = 9 |
| Name number | Add the Chaldean values of the letters you sign | Depends on the exact spelling you sign |
Each number is linked to a planet, and each planet to a weekday. Moolank 5, for example, is linked to Mercury (Budh), so tradition suggests starting a new signature on a Wednesday. Our guide how to calculate your signature numerology shows the full method and the table for every number.

The 5 signature rules most numerologists agree on
- The signature should rise from left to right, never slope down.
- The first letter should be clear and a little bigger than the rest.
- No line through the name. An underline below it is fine.
- No dot or full stop after the signature.
- The last stroke should move up and forward, not down or back.
